The short answer
Monthly SEO retainers in Dubai generally run from around AED 1,000 at the entry end to AED 15,000 and above for competitive sectors with large sites. Our own entry retainer is AED 1,000 per month, published on our pricing page, with a three-month initial commitment and month-to-month after that.
That range is wide because SEO is not one service. A single-location clinic that needs its Google Business Profile fixed and six pages rewritten is a different job from a property portal with forty thousand URLs and an indexation problem.
Why nobody publishes a price
We looked, before setting our own rates, for a Dubai agency that published what it charges. We could not find one. The stated reason is always that every project is different. The practical reason is that a published price cannot be adjusted to what a particular client looks like they can afford.
This matters to you because it means the first call is a qualification exercise rather than a diagnosis. You are being priced, not assessed.
What a retainer should actually contain
Whatever the number, the deliverables should be nameable in advance. If a proposal cannot tell you what will exist at the end of month one that did not exist at the start, it is selling activity rather than work.
- A technical baseline: what is indexable now, what is blocked, what is duplicated
- A keyword map — which page targets which search, and why that page can win it
- Content work with a stated volume, not "ongoing optimisation"
- Google Business Profile work if you have a physical location
- Reporting that names the metric and the number, in language you can check
The signs of an expensive retainer
Price is only half the question. These are the patterns that make a cheap retainer expensive:
- Rankings reported without traffic or enquiries — position 3 for a term nobody searches is not a result
- A twelve-month lock-in. SEO needs three months to show movement, not twelve to be worth leaving
- Accounts held in the agency's name. If you cannot log into your own Search Console, you do not own your data
- Content volume with no keyword attached to any of it
- Link building that will not name the sites
Why three months, not one
Organic ranking cannot move faster than Google recrawls and reassesses your site. Changes made in week one are typically not reflected for weeks after that, and competitive terms take longer still.
Any agency offering meaningful SEO results inside a month is either selling you paid traffic under a different name, or expecting you not to check. The honest version of the answer is that the first month is diagnosis and repair, the second is when work compounds, and the third is the earliest point at which the numbers mean anything.
What to do before you buy anything
Run the free checks first. Open Search Console and look at whether your pages are actually indexed. Search your own brand name and see what comes up. Open your site on a phone on mobile data rather than office wifi. Check whether your contact form actually sends.
It is common to find that the problem is not a lack of SEO but something broken that no retainer will fix by itself. That is the whole reason our first engagement with anyone is a diagnostic rather than a proposal.
Common questions
Is AED 1,000 a month enough for SEO in Dubai?
For a small site in a low-competition niche, yes — enough to fix technical problems, rebuild a handful of pages properly and get local signals in order. For a competitive sector like real estate or a large e-commerce catalogue it is a starting point rather than a full programme.
Should I pay per keyword?
No. Per-keyword pricing incentivises the agency to pick easy terms nobody searches for. Pay for the work, and judge it on enquiries.
How long before SEO pays for itself?
Three to six months before movement is meaningful, and longer in competitive sectors. If cash needs to come back faster than that, paid search is the more honest tool.
